Overnight Boarding at The Barker Shop

 

Below you’ll find answers to our most common questions about boarding, safety, and daily care.

Our goal is to make your dog’s stay as calm, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible.

 

🌙 Where will my dog stay?

 

Each guest enjoys a private, climate-controlled suite — not a kennel or cage.

Our themed rooms — Urban Loft, Lakeview Lounge, Cabin Retreat, Enchanted Forest, and Jungle Retreat — feature real twin size beds, cozy bedding, fresh water, and soft lighting.  Every space is cleaned daily and designed for relaxation.

 

👩‍⚕️ Is anyone at the facility overnight?

 

Staff are on-site from 6 AM – 8 PM for all care routines.  Overnight, the building remains securely alarmed, temperature-controlled, and camera-monitored 24/7.  Each dog is tucked in with fresh water and bedding before bedtime, and staff return early every morning for walks and breakfast.

Every suite is cleaned and refreshed daily, and all guests receive personalized attention.

 

🧺 Can I bring my dog’s food or belongings?

 

Absolutely — familiar items help dogs feel at home.

Please bring labeled food portions and any special bedding or toys you’d like them to have.

We provide stainless-steel bowls, cozy linens, and daily laundering.

 

💉 What vaccinations are required?

 

Illinois Department of Agriculture requires:

• Rabies

• Distemper

We also recommend Bordetella and Leptospirosis for added protection.

Proof of vaccination from your veterinarian is required before boarding.

 

💸 How much does boarding cost?

 

Suite Type Rate + Additional Dog (same suite)

 

Luxury Suites $115 / night + $75 / night

(COMING SOON) Cozy Suites $85 / night + $55 / night (COMING SOON)

 

Enhancements such as exit baths, enrichment sessions, or extended checkouts are available for an additional fee.

 

⏰ What are your check-in and check-out times?

 

Check-in: 8 AM – 5 PM

Check-out: by 12 PM

Early drop-off or late pickup can be arranged for $15, based on availability.

 

🐾 Do you accept all dogs?

 

We specialize in calm, well-mannered guests who enjoy a relaxed environment.

Dogs must be comfortable being handled by staff and able to rest quietly in their suite.

We are not equipped for aggressive, highly anxious, or destructive behaviors.

 

🐕‍🦺 Do you offer a meet & greet?

 

Yes.  All new boarders are required complete a 60 minute Meet & Greet evaluation so we can ensure your dog is comfortable here. It’s also the perfect time for you to tour our suites and ask questions.

 

💬 Can I check in on my dog?

 

Yes! We’re happy to send photos or quick text updates.  Our Luxury Suites include Wi-Fi treat dispensers with cameras so you can peek in remotely.

 

🎄 Are you open on holidays?

 

Yes — boarding care continues every single day.

The lobby may be closed on major holidays, but staff are here morning and evening for all feeding, cleaning, and walks.
